What the winery says about this wine
"A stellar South African variety not common in Australia, it is comparable to an Aussie shiraz but is in fact a cross between Cinsaut and pinot noir. This Pinotage delivers all the intensity of dark juicy fruit and chewy tannins you would expect but remains approachable and fun."
Why we love this wine
Originally grown in South Africa, a Pinotage wine is usually bold and intense but this Pinotage grape is grown in the Alpine Valley in North East Victoria just out of Myrtleford which makes it a cool climate wine - so expect the same intensity and interest of a classic Pinotage but less boldness. Delicious and different and a must try if you like a Shiraz or a Cabernet Sauvignon and want to explore a less known variety.
